  We were very specific about being complete novices. My friend even expressed that she had a slight fear of horses. Despite this our guide took us, not on easy to traverse roads and paths but instead small, stony trails up the mountain. It was completely inappropriate for our level of skill and experience. When my friend broached the subject with the guide he got defensive and simply stated "we're in the mountains, what do you expect". We expected something calm and easy along clear paths and roads, of which we saw plenty on our way to the ranch. The whole experience was extremely taxing and what would have been a 2 hour ride turned into a 1 hour ordeal that left both of us physically shaking and exhausted.
